The Right Move Isn’t Always the Obvious One: Meet Michael Harding, Your Creston BC REALTOR®
1. Real Estate Is About People, Not Just Properties
Buying or selling a home is one of life’s biggest decisions. It’s exciting, sometimes overwhelming, and often marks the beginning of an entirely new chapter. That’s something I never lose sight of.
I’m Michael Harding, REALTOR® with Century 21 Assurance Realty Ltd., proudly serving Creston, the Kootenay Valley and surrounding communities in beautiful British Columbia.
For me, real estate has always been about more than putting a sign on a lawn or negotiating a sale. It’s about understanding people, listening to their goals, and helping them make decisions that feel right for their future.
Whether you’re purchasing your first home, selling a property you’ve loved for years, investing in land, or making a major lifestyle change, I believe you deserve someone who genuinely cares about the outcome.
My approach is simple: honest communication, personal service, hard work, and going the extra mile.
2. Why I Love Helping People Find Their Place in the Kootenays
There’s something special about the Creston Valley and the surrounding Kootenay region. From breathtaking mountain views and beautiful lakes to orchards, vineyards, farmland and welcoming communities, this is an incredible place to call home.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping people discover what this area has to offer.
Some buyers are looking for a family home close to town and everyday amenities. Others dream of acreage, a hobby farm, a quieter rural lifestyle, or a place where they can finally slow down and enjoy the outdoors.
We also see people relocating from other parts of British Columbia and across Canada, looking for a different pace of life and new opportunities.
I love being able to introduce people to the area, answer their questions, and help them explore the possibilities. I don’t just want to help someone find a property; I want to help them feel at home in their new community.
3. A Modern Approach to Marketing Creston Real Estate
Selling a property takes more than simply listing it online and waiting for the phone to ring. Every property has a story, and my job is to help tell it in a way that attracts attention and connects with the right buyers.
I combine local market knowledge with modern marketing strategies to give my listings the exposure they deserve.
This includes professional photography, compelling property descriptions, online listing exposure, social media campaigns, Google Business updates, video marketing and emerging digital marketing tools.
I also believe in thinking outside the box. Not every property appeals to the same buyer, and not every marketing strategy works for every listing.
A rural acreage, a family home in Creston, a recreational property, and an investment opportunity each deserve a different approach.
My goal is to highlight what makes each property special, reach potential buyers wherever they are searching, and help sellers position their properties competitively in the market.
4. Local Knowledge, Community Connections and a Personal Commitment
Being a REALTOR® in a smaller community means relationships matter. The people you meet, the businesses you support, and the connections you build all contribute to what makes this area such a wonderful place to live and work.
I’m proud to be involved with the local Chamber of Commerce and connected with local business networks, community organizations and charitable initiatives.
I believe that when local businesses support one another, the entire community benefits.
I’m also continually learning, embracing new technology, and looking for better ways to serve my clients. Being recognized as Rookie of the Year was a wonderful milestone early in my real estate career, and it reinforced my enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
But regardless of awards or accomplishments, the greatest satisfaction comes from helping a client achieve something important to them.
I want my clients to know they can call me long after a transaction is complete. Real estate relationships shouldn’t end when the keys change hands.
